Sunday we rented a zipcar and drove out to Queens to visit the NY Hall of Science. It is built on the ruins of the 1964 World's Fair.

Grayson Danger had so much fun running around the science museum. He enjoyed the moon rover robot, submarine, dinosaurs, atoms, and tornado exhibits. Outside the museum is a fun space themed mini golf course. It overlooks Rocket Park which has actual vintage rockets from the US space program.

We walked across a bridge over the highway to visit the ruins of the 1964 World's Fair. It was amazing! I was blown away by the Unisphere, a giant metal globe sculpture. It used to have running water fountains below it but now it serves as a killer skateboard park for the local NY skater dudes. We also saw a giant heliopad, modern art sculpture by Diego Rivera, rocket ship sculpture. The two towers used to have elevators which took people up to disc shaped observatories in the sky. The design of the NY pavilion reminds me of some kind of weird stargate time travel portal. My husband said to me, "Do you feel like you've been born around 40 years late?". I wish I could have gone to the 1964 World's Fair. Maybe someday scientists will build a time travel machine so we can go back and see it in its heyday.
