Disney's Polynesian Resort

We escaped the NYC cold and went to visit our family and friends in sunny Orlando Florida. My mom works at Disney, as my belated Christmas present she took us to Disney World. We stayed at the Polynesian Resort Hotel.

I have been to the Polynesian before to see the luau, which is really fun. The food is ok, but the show is pretty amazing. I have always wanted to stay at the Polynesian. I love Hawaiian tiki style. When you drive up to the Polynesian you come upon this amazing waterfall pond with big coy fish and you are greeted by tikis of course. You are given a traditional Hawaiian lei as well.

There is a huge open atrium inside the lobby. All the decor is truly Hawaiian style. You walk out back and pass lush gardens filled with tropical plants. Further past the garden is the pool area with volcano slide and sandy beach overlooking the lake and the Magic Kingdom castle.

The room is Hawaiian style with tapa bed linens. Grass cloth wall coverings, bamboo trim. Tiki lighting and more.

We enjoyed Character breakfast at Ohana's restaurant. The restaurant is filled with huge tiki statues including a couple of Moai (my favorite). My baby boy Grayson loved the tikis. He ran up to each one and said "Tiki, tiki". It was the first time he said tiki. I could cry!

While we were eating breakfast, the Disney characters came up to our table to greet us. Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch were there. Grayson gave them all hugs and kisses. He even tried to feed Pluto some of his Mickey shaped waffle. So cute!

We had a blast at Disney and the Polynesian. It is a great place to stay with your family. I would love to go back and stay there with just my husband. It is quite romantic with its lush, tropical setting. Definitely worth a go!
