Our son Grayson Danger turns 4 pretty soon. Oct 3. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about what to get him for his birthday. You see, our boy is not your typical pre-schooler. When we talk about "seeing the Doctor", instead of thinking stethoscopes and shots, our boy thinks about sonic screwdrivers and time travel in the TARDIS.
His obsession with all things Doctor Who began this summer. Every Saturday night, we would let the boy stay up late. I'd pop some popcorn and he would snuggle between me and my husband in our big bed. He would watch an entire episode of Doctor Who every Saturday night this summer. He now has seen all the episodes with the past 3 Doctors.
So what to get the youngest Doctor Who fan? In comes a very talented artist friend of mine.
His name is Doug Schramm and his latest art design is our favorite blue Police Call Box. Doug and I actually met a few years ago through my blog. He and I share a love of all things Retro and now I find out he's a Doctor Who fan too.
Doug so kindly offered to send Grayson one of his Doctor Who inspired art for his birthday.

Doug please tell us a little about yourself and your art.
My name is Doug Schramm, I’m a self taught artist with some formal training in 3d Animation. I’ve been drawing since I was a wee lad of 5 years old.
My art now is mostly created on the computer using Photoshop. It’s all hand drawn into Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. I start by sketching out the idea then finding good references of what it is exactly I’m drawing then sketch and modify that sketch then block in the colors and refine that. Once I have the rough blocked version I then will refine it more till I have the finished version. My Illustrative art tends to be slightly painterly and my auto art is very slick and refined. Inspirations can be anything from a song to a feeling and even my girlfriend.
What is your title?
My Title is basically Illustrator/graphic designer. With a heavy concentration on Automotive art. All of my work for clients is done on the computer. I try to make a living at it but it’s not always easy.
What inspires you?
My inspirations are wide and varied I have a big love of retro design and that was one of the things that attracted me to Populuxe Books, one of my favorite sites. I tend to gravitate toward anything that is of the “In Like Flynn” era or say the slickness of the “Rat Pack”. Although lately I have been doing pinups based around Alice in Wonderland. As I said my interests are varied. I find it important to have people around you that support you in whatever you do and I have been very fortunate to have some wonderful people around me. I lost my art way for a while there but now have found my muse in my girlfriend. It’s important to be inspired and she inspires me.
