Back when Brian and I were dating, he took me to this Felix The Cat Chevrolet car dealership in L.A. He totally surprised me, I had no idea a Felix dealership existed. They had a huge Felix sign and Felix statues all over the place. It was one of the best surprises ever!

The Felix character was borrowed from the 1920s cartoon "Felix the Cat" by L.A. automobile dealer Winslow Felix, who opened Felix Chevrolet in 1922 at 12th Street and Grand Avenue. Felix was a friend of filmmaker Pat Sullivan, whose animation studio created the feline character.
The large Felix Chevrolet neon sign was erected at Figueroa and Jefferson Boulevard when new dealership owner Nick Shammas relocated the Chevrolet franchise there in 1958.
The Felix Chevrolet sign has become a Historic Landmark. I am so happy because that means I can someday surprise my son by taking him there to see it. I hope he loves Felix just as much as I do.

Brian bought me this Felix license plate at the dealership. I still have it on my car.
