Our European vacation took us onward to Paris, France. The city of lights is as beautiful as they say. Very romantic! We went to many of the usual tourist destinations... Eiffel tower, Arch De Triumph, Champs de Elysees, Louvre, Notre Name Cathedral, etc. The city is ever so stately with its limestone buildings, fountains and marble sculptures on every corner. We started to get overwhelmed by all of this so we searched out to find some modern architecture. And some crepes for Brian. Yum!
We happened upon The French Communist Party headquarters in the Place du Colonel Fabien. It was designed by Oscar Niemeyer. During the 60's the Brazilian architect was exiled due to his opposition to the military dictator General Castello Branco. He moved to Paris where he designed the French Communist Party Headquarters. It was built between 1967 and 1972.

It is quite a site to see. The white dome pops out of the green lawn. It is positioned in front of a curvy six story glass building. It definitely has that space age feel.
