This year for my birthday my husband surprised me by taking me to see the Glass House by architect Philip Johnson. It is located on a huge property in New Canaan CT. We took the extensive 2 hour guided tour which included tours of his library, art galleries and the glass house.

The property was lovely, it was November and all the leaves were changing colors. I really enjoyed experiencing the glass house. I would love to live in a glass house and be surrounded by nature. I bet it was amazing to live there. Johnson was quite the hipster and he hung out with Andy Warhol and threw outrageous parties there with live music by The Velvet Underground. How cool!

I also enjoyed visiting his extensive architectural library. It was interesting to me to compare his library with my own. Johnson had a lot of the same books that I have. Wow!

I highly recommend the tour. New Canaan is not too far away from New York City. We got there in just over an hour.

guided tour is $45 a person and they give you a special souvenir gift at the end of the tour.
